Sawmill Park offers 25 sites and has hand pumps, pit toilets, pavillion and fishing dock. This quiet, remote campground is the perfect place to get away and relax. It sits amidst over 16,000 acres of public forest land, nearly all of it designated as a non-motorized unit. The campground, and Sawmill Lake, offers direct access to a canoe portage trail connecting to 6 other undeveloped lakes.
Sawmill Campground is located north of Birchwood, Wis. and South of Stone Lake, Wis. From Birchwood, take County Hwy D west to County Hwy T. Head north and Hwy T will turn to gravel, which becomes the Birchwood Firelane. The park is 2 miles north, on the east side of the Birchwood Firelane.
Campsite cost is $10 per night, and there will be an additional small donation needed to cover the cost of having the campground plowed
Firewood situation: Cut and split wood will be available. Event organizers have purchased this from a local Boy Scout Troop, and you'll be on the honor system to reimburse them. Dead and down wood is also available for collection. Since this is pretty much a car camping situation, many campers will use fuel purchased elsewhere. The fire blocks sold at Menard's are a popular option, and there is a Menard's in Rice Lake (30 mins away)
